Vale das Taquaras Lodge offers a range of accommodation options:
● A ground floor suite with a king size bed, a single bed and an ensuite bathroom.
● A large twin bedroom with two single beds and the option to add a further single bed, if required.
● On the upper floor there is asnooker table as well as a football game.
● At night there is a cinema session for those who want it.
● An annex with an ensuite with 2 single beds, and two further single rooms with a shared bathroom.
All the rooms are tastefully decorated, and are furnished with eiderdowns, eider pillows, top quality cotton sheets and Egyptian cotton bath towels. Facilities – hot showers, electricity (210V) and we do have a transformer in case your appliances are 127V.
Library — We have various reference books on birds, trees, and orchids, but if you have a special one you like, it is better to bring it along as well as your binoculars.
The fully renovated lodge includes a spacious ground-floor living room with a fire place, and a games room with snooker, card games and table football on the upper floor. All through the year guests can have a sauna at the end of the day, and then jump in the dam or have a cold shower to freshen up. As we are 1000m high, it is not necessary to have air condition.
Three daily meals are included in the accommodation tariff, and meal arrangements can be flexible, depending on your day’s schedule. Lunch is usually the main meal of the day, with a lighter meal (such as pizza, soup or a cheese and cold meat platter) in the evening. Fresh fruit is served at all meals. Packed lunches can be provided for whole-day outings, with a full evening meal upon return.
Breakfast and lunch are served on the verandah or outside, weather permitting, and dinner is served in the kitchen/dining-room. If a dawn start is to be made, we can leave everything ready for guests to prepare their own breakfast.

Lee Dingain, a keen bird watcher,
has this to say about Vale das Taquaras:
“We think your accommodation is second to none. Over the years Rachel and I have stayed in nine birding eco-lodges in the neo-tropics, and your place is as good as any of them. The rooms are very spacious and luxurious, the beds comfortable, the showers hot. The environment is quiet and relaxing, and the food superb. You also have power points, so cameras and laptops can be charged. Also a great verandah for relaxing while watching humming birds and other species.” |
